Our Family
Lead Pastor
My name is Dilantha Arachchilage. I was born in Sri Lanka and grew up in a Buddhist and Hindu family. I came to know the truth about Jesus Christ and received Him as Lord and Savior on August 16, 2000. I dedicated myself to full-time ministry in the local church and then finished seminary in four years. I have served in ministry as an Evangelist, Youth Pastor, Lead Pastor, Bible teacher, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes Director in Sri Lanka. God has given me a burden for unreached Buddhist and Hindu people. I left an established church and became a church planter and a missionary among these unreached people. After facing persecution from within and outside of the church in Sri Lanka, God opened the door for me to come to the USA. In August 2014, I entered the USA and met a Sri Lankan family in Northern Virginia. I started a weekly bible study and prayer meeting in their home which began my ministry in Northern Virginia. I have been ministering as a church planter and missionary to the South Asian people groups in a greater DC metro area for the last 9 years. By God grace, I have been able to share the gospel with more than 4000 people and baptize 17 people among the Sri Lankan and south Asian people. Some of these believers that were baptized have now returned to their homeland in Sri Lanka and are faithfully sharing the gospel there, while others are continuing to serve through Hope Community Church which I planted in 2015.
Hope Community Church has been spreading the hope of Jesus Christ and making disciples since 2015. Hope Community Church is a church plant in Metro D.C. reaching Sri Lankans and South Asians for Jesus Christ in their heart languages. Over the last nine years, we have seen Buddhists and Hindus who grew up in orthodox churches trust in Jesus as their Lord and Savior and follow Him in baptism. Currently there are approximately 20,000 Sri Lankan and 10,700 South Asian people in metro Washington, DC.
Who are our partners?
Southern Baptist Convention of Virginia
North American Mission Board
City Light Church, Falls Church, VA
Why a partner with us?
• Spread the Gospel to Sri Lankans and South Asians who need of the Gospel in Metro DC
• Discipling first and second-generation Sri Lankan and South Asians in their heart language
• Being apart of the mission of supply resources to reach them where they work, live, and play
My plan is unifying them through spiritual leadership and delivering the gospel in culturally relevant ways. My long-term goal is to plant more churches in North America to reach Sri Lankan and South Asian people and to send missionaries back to their native country to evangelize and plant churches.
We can only accomplish this mission by having Gospel partnership through churches that will faithfully pray for us, go with us, and give to help us reach the vast harvest field of Metro DC with the Gospel.
