The Word of God:
The Word of God:
I believe God revealed himself to man through the Holy Scriptures- the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments (Exodus 24:4; Deuteronomy 4:1-2; 17:19; Joshua 8:34). I believe that the Old Testament and New Testament books were written by ordinary people, inspired by the Holy Spirit (Jeremiah 30:2; John 14:26; 2 Peter 1:20-21). I believe all Scripture is God-breathed and is without error, useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (2 Tim 3:16 Romans 15:4; 16:25-26; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:19-21, Matt 5: 17-18) I believe the Bible to be the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds and opinions shall be tried.
The Trinity:
There is one living and true God. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division in nature, essence or being.
God is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal being; the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God has communicable attributes which people, being made in His image, can imitate. For example; love, joy, pace, patience, kindness… (Gal 5: 22-23).
God has incommunicable attributes which belong to God along. For example; eternal, infinite, omnipresent, sovereign, immutable, all-knowing, all- wise, all -powerful, etc.
God the Father:
I believe God the Father is the first person of the Trinity. He revealed himself as Creator in Genesis 1:1; 2:7; Exodus 3:14; 6:2-3; 15:11; Psalm19:1-3. He is the imminent and omnipotent God with all authority, dominion, and power. He is the ruler of the universe (John 1:1-2; 9-18; 17:24; Hebrews 1:8 Rev 4:11 psalms 19:1-3).
Jesus Christ:
I believe Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity (Matt 16:16; 17:5.). He is fully God and fully man yet one person (John1:14). The Virgin Mary conceived Jesus miraculously through the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-23; 3:17; 8:29; 11:27; 14:33; 16:27; 17:5; 27; 28:1-6, 19; Mark 1:1;3; Luk1:26-31). He is the redeemer of humankind (John 3:16, Revelation 13:8; John 1:1-18, 29 Romans 1:3-4). He bore our sins in His body on the cross, was buried, and rose from the dead on the third day (1 Peter 2:24; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8). He will return in power and glory to judge and to complete his redemptive and restorative purposes (Matthew 24:30; 25:31-46; Acts 17:31). He is the only way to God the Father (John 14: 6, 19; Roman 6-21).
The Holy Spirit:
I believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of God, fully divine (Gen 1:1-2; Acts 5:3-4). He inspired men to write the Scriptures (Genesis1:2; 1Timothy3:16; Isaiah 61:1-3; Matthew 28:19). Through illumination He enables men to understand the Scriptures (Matthew 1:18; 4:1; Luke 1:35; Judges 14:6; Psalms 51:11; 139:7). He glorifies Jesus Christ (John 16:14). He convicts men of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John16:7-11).
He indwells and seals every believer (Matthew 12:28-32; Ephesian 1:13-14; 4:30; 5:18; John 4:24; Romans 8:18). He assures believers of salvation and intercedes for them (Rom 8:14-16,26). He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service (Act 1:8; Ephesian.5:15-21). He calls men to the savior, and effects regeneration (Titus 3:5; John3:5,8) At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ (1 Cor 12:13). He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and grants the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church (Joel 2:28-32 John 4:24; 14:16, 17, 26; 15:26; 16:7.14; 1Corinthians 2:10-14; 12:3-11,13). He will raise and transform the believer’s body (Rom 8:11).
Creation:
I believe God created the universe, the seen and the unseen, the heavens and the earth. God created the first man Adam and his wife Eve, in the likeness of God (Genesis 1:1-29; 2:3; 2:22-24; Psalm 33:6 Colossians 1:16; Revelation 4:11; 5:13; Ephesians 2:10; Romans1:20; 8:19).
Sin:
I believe God created humankind righteous and without sin (Gen 1:26-28). Satan tempted Eve and both Adam and Eva rebelled against God. (Genesis 3:1-13; Isaiah14:12-15; 55:8-9; 59:2; Ezekiel 12:4; 14:5,7; 28:12-18). As a result of Adam’s sin all mankind are sinners, death entered the world, all of nature was corrupted, and man started to worship creation, rather than the Creator (Romans 3:23; 5:12-14; 8:19-22; 1Peter 5:8; 1 John 1:8; 3:4).
Salvation:
I believe faith in Jesus Christ is the only condition for salvation (Acts 4;12). Salvation is by grace alone through faith in Christ alone for the glory of God alone (Ephesians 2:1-10). We are justified before God and declared righteous by faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:13; John 1:12; Romans 1:4, 4:25; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 3:18; Hebrews 5:8,9).
Spiritual Formation:
I believe the Christian journey is an expression of the believer’s union with Jesus Christ (Col 3:1-11). This expression is to be done in the power of the Holy Spirit (Rom 8; Gal 5). Christians grow best in the context of a gospel – centered locala church (Acts 2:42-48; Heb10:24-25).
The Church:
I believe the Church is both universal and local Matt 16:13-19 28;18-20; Rev 2:1- 3:22)
The universal church includes all those who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13). The Church is called a body, bride, building, family, priesthood, flock, and branches in the vine. (1 Cor 12:12-27; Eph5:32; 1 Cor 3:9; 1 Pet 2:5; 1 Tim5:1-2;Eph 3:14; 1Pet 2:5-9; John 10;John 15). God gave his church the Holy Spirit to strengthen, encourage, and perfect them, and to empower them for ministry (Ephesians 4:11-14).
A biblical definition of a local church is; it consists of baptized believers in Jesus Christ, connected to the global body of Christ, who habitually gather under the leadership of qualified shepherds, to worship the Triune God, study and apply the Scriptures, practice baptism and communion, and obey the Great command and the great commission for the glory of God (Acts 2:42-47 ; Matt 22:37-40,28:18-20)
The offices given in the Bible, for the local church, are elders and deacons. Their qualifications and duties are clearly defined in Scripture (1 Tim 3 1-13; Tiu 1: 5-9; Rom 16:1-16; Acts 6:1-7, 20:17-35).
I believe in baptism by immersion once we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and savior to identify with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection (Matthew 3:16; 28:18-20; 26:26-29; Mark 1:5,1; John 3:23; Acts 8:36-39; Romans 6:3-4; 1Corinthians 11:23-26; Colossians 2:12).
Communion bread symbolizes Jesus’ body, broken for the forgiveness of sin, and the wine symbolizes the blood of the New Covenant (Matthew 26:26-26; 1 Corinthians 11:23). The Lord’s Supper demonstrates unity with one another (1 Corinthians 10:17). The recipient must individually examine themselves before receiving (1Corinthians 11:23-26). Ministries to fulfill the great command and the great commission are performed by the members of the church as God has gifted each person (Romans 12:3-13; Ephesians 4:1-8).
Spiritual Gifts:
I believe God gave spiritual gifts for the edification and equipping of the church body, to carry out the work of the ministry until Christ returns. There are three categories of spiritual gifts; the speaking gifts, the serving gifts, and the sign gifts (Rom 12:1-13;1 Cor 12 :1-31; Eph4:1-16; 1 Pet 4:7-11). I believe the sign gifts are still in operation, but they need to be regulated for the building up the body of Christ in love, reflecting the glory of Christ, under the shepherding of mature elders (1 Cor 12: -14).
Angles, Satan and Demons:
I believe God created sinless spirit being called angles to worship and serve Him (Isa 6:3; Col 1:16; Heb1:14). I believe some of the angles rebelled against God, and that one, Satan, now rules these fallen angles called demons. Satan is the unholy god of this age and has schemes and strategies to resist the purposes of the God. He and his angles will be judged and cast into the lake of fire (1 Tim 3:6; Matt 25:41; Eph6:11-12; Matt 4:1-3; 2 Cor 4:4; Rev 12:7-15).
Things to Come:
I believe that when Jesus Christ returns, those who belong to Christ will be bodily raised from the dead. No one knows the day, or the hour of His second coming (Matthew 25:13,32,33).
I believe the rapture will occur before the seven-year tabulation (Rev 1-3; 19; 1The 5:1-9; John 14:1-3 ;1 The 4:16; 2 The 2:2-12).
The Tribulation is the seven-year period prior to the return of Christ. The 1,000-year reign of Christ will occur after His second coming (Rev 19:20:1-15 ;1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 5:2,9; 1 Corinthians 15:51-53; Isaiah 2:12, 13:6-9; Joel 1:15; 2:1-31; 3:14; Duet 4:30; Zephaniah 1:1,15; Matthew 24:21; Daniel 12:1; Jeremiah 30:7).
I believe that after the 1,000 years will be the final judgment - eternal punishment for unbelievers and eternal reward for believers (Rev 20-22). God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit will reign and will be worshiped in a never ending kingdom with no more sin, sorrow or suffering (Rev 20:1-6, in Isaiah 7:14; 9:6-7).
FINAL NOTE:
I believe in the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed.
